Peace and Freedom Front (PFF) Delegation Meet with Canadian Envoy to Syria

On Wednesday, 11/25/2020, a delegation from the Peace and Freedom Front held a virtual meeting with Mr. Gregory Galligan the representative of the Canadian government in charge of the Syrian dossier; on the request of the Canadian side. The Canadian envoy showed a remarkable interest in the PFF, especially after recent PFF delegation visit to several capitals in the region and meeting with key Coalition partners . Mr. Galligan expressed the Canadian Foreign Ministry’s desire to improve the relationship with PFF leadership.
The PFF delegation, which included gentlemen: Hawas Saadum and Gabriel Moushi Gawrieh gave a detailed overview of the PFF political vision and the reasons for its formation at this stage, mainly, to balance the political process and strengthening the Syrian opposition’s ability to achieve entitlements (rights) linked to the political process sponsored by the UN in order to implement Resolution 2254 with all its provisions, as well as, preserving civil peace and the values of coexistence, especially in the regions of northeastern Syria. The delegation also stressed the need to strengthen cooperation between the PFF and the Canadian government on the bases of common interests, and support the demands of the Syrian people to achieve a political transition consistent with their aspiration. The PFF delegation also mentioned the need to meet the increasing humanitarian needs in the regions of northeastern Syria and the rest of Syrian, due to the deterioration of economic conditions and the spread of Covid-19 epidemic.
Mr. Galligan thanked the delegation for the presentation made by the PFF delegation about its vision and mission, and stressed that there is a common agreement between the two sides vision in dealing with the Syrian question, especially in its enthusiasm to restore peace and stability, preserve the territorial integrity of Syria, and guarantee the rights of nationalities and protecting them within the framework of a decentralized democratic system, as well as, supporting the Syrian opposition and strengthening its unity.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the two parties agreed to continue communicating and exchange views in the future.
