This Thursday afternoon, June 3, 2021, a group of masked men abducted Mr. Husam Alkass in front of a shop in the city of Malikiyah (Derik), as he was riding in his car, where they beat him and put him in his car and took him to an unknown destination.
We in the Assyrian Democratic Organization (ADO) condemn the abduction of Mr. Husam Alkass, who is a member of the Assyrian Democratic Organization. We hold the de-facto authority and its security services legally responsible for the abduction, and we demand his immediate release, and we hold them responsible for any physical or psychological harm to which he is exposed.
The abduction in broad daylight clearly indicates who is the perpetrator, which is the only party that monopolizes arms and power in the region, and is therefore responsible for protecting the security of citizens. It has the responsibility to ensure the security and safety of citizens and protect them from any attack on their freedom and their right to peaceful expression.
Accordingly, we in the Assyrian Democratic Organization demand the Autonomous Administration authorities to immediately release Mr. Husam Alkass and hold them legally responsible for any physical or psychological abuse to which he is subjected.
