Syrian Releases Assyrian Journalist

 



 

Hassake/Qamischli – ESNA — On February 27th Mr. A. Edward Mousa was arrested by the Syrian secret service (muhabarat) in the city Hasake in Syria. He was held for ten days in the headquarter of the Syrian secret service in Damascus.

The background of the arrest was an article in which Edward Mousa had criticized the lack of electricity and energy supply in Syria. According to information obtained by ESNA, A. Edward Mousa was released today and is now on his way home to his family in the Habor area.

The Assyrian Diaspora launched a vocal protest against his arrest.
