Protests in Qamishly, Syria on Good Friday

Thousands of Arabs, Kurds and Assyrians protested peacefully in Qamishly, Syria, on Good Friday, April 22, 2011.  The majority of the demonstrators were from the youth.  The protesters called for freedom, modification of the constitution, and ending the harassment of citizens by the government’s security services.

The protesters in all of Syria had named today’s protest as "Good Friday" in solidarity with Syrian Christians who are celebrating the Passion of Christ. Also, showing the protesters’ belief that following the Crucifixion of the people, there shall be a Resurrection.
