Mr. Shmoel was rushed to a local hospital where he was treated. Mr. Shmoel was then released from the hospital on that same day, only to accost his killers again awaiting his release. Mr. Shmoel was targeted with a car not carrying plate numbers, used to drive him to the hospital. He died immediately after the second attack.
Martyr Nisan Sliyo Shmoel was 43 and is survived by his wife and 6 children (5 daughters and 1 son). The oldest of his children is 15.
Shortly after the toppling of Saddam Hussein, Nisan Sliyo Shmoel joined the Assyrian Patriotic Party (Gabba Atranaya Atouraya). Mr. Shmoel was also a private in the newly- formed Iraqi Army.
