Memorial to victims of the 1915Assyrian Genocide in Ottoman Empire will be erected in Yerevan on the initiative of Assyrian community of Armenia, president of Assyrian Khatata federation Irina Gasparyan told NEWS.am.
She noted that the Yerevan City Hall has provided 16 m² for the monument in the center of the Armenian capital. It will be constructed with the funds of Assyrians living in Armenia and throughout the world.
Irina Gasparyan expressed hope that the monument will be open till August 7 – the day of commemoration of the Assyrian Genocide. Construction will be launched in 2011.
