Good News from Georgia. The Assyrian General Mr. Boris Ivanov released on bail

Today, on 30th December the General Boris Ivanov was set free on bail. Now he is at his home in Tbilisi.


?


On 29th December after more than five months the court session concerning the arrest of Assyrian General Mr. Boris Ivanov took place in Tbilisi, Georgia. As already known Mr. Ivanov was arrested on 27th July at his place in Tbilisi and he was accused of keeping drugs.


?


All this time Assyrian Diaspora protested his arrest. Famous Assyrians, as Mr. Nuri Kino, the most awarded investigative Journalist from Sweden and Ms. Attyia Gamri, Dutch Politician and Human Rights activist visited Georgia to investigate this case.


?


Assyrian Organizations and personalities all over the world sent letters of protest to Georgian Government with the request to investigate this case properly and to release the General because he was innocent. This issue was the top news in Assyrian media worldwide.

The court considered an application about the release of Mr. Ivanov on bail.


?


Many Georgian TV channels took interviews with the General today.


?


The Assyrian International Congress of Georgia in the name of the General and his family expresses the gratitude to everybody who contributed to the release of Mr. Ivanov. This was our first victory, but we still need your support and collaboration till the final release of our General.

This case showed that we are a great nation and together we can reach a lot. Assyria is alive when we stand to each other. God bless our Nation!
