Assyrian Democratic Organization ADO
Abdulahad Astepho, the head of ADO in the Syrian National Council, received a Swedish diplomatic delegation on June 8 2013.
The Swedish delegation was comprised of Mr. Frank Belfrage who is the Cabinet Secretary in Foreign Affairs and Mr. Håkan Åkesson who is the Swedish ambassador in Turkey. During the meeting topics about Syria and how the Syrian opposition looks like today were discussed. Furthermore, the stand of the Syrian opposition regarding the Geneva II Conference were discussed.
Astepho praised the support of the Swedish state in promoting democracy and the humanitarian aid. Steifo requested more humanitarian aid in these harsh times the Syrian people are enduring. Steifo and the Swedish delegation also discussed the plight of the Assyrians in Syria during these last three years of the civil war, the abduction of the bishops and the significant impact the kidnapping of the bishops has on the Assyrian and the whole Syrian Christian population.
