72 Members of the Syrian National Council have published a statement in support of the Green Movement in the anniversary of 25 Bahman (Feb 14th, 2011) uprising; and have made it available to the Student Green Movement of Vancouver. The statement is as follows:

Today February the 14th 2012, marks the first anniversary of Iran’s Green Movement’s big rallies in support of the Arab spring. We the undersigned, members in the Syrian National Council would like to extend our thanks and support to the Iranian people in their quest for freedom.

It is important for all of us to know that we share one region and that our struggle and freedoms are connected. The Syrian and Iranian regimes have cooperated very closely throughout the years to oppress their own people and to destabilize the region around them. We believe that the only way that our people can prosper is by cooperation and mutual respect to each other’s past, presence and future aspirations.
