During the voting on <\/SPAN><\/FONT>Camiel Eurling?s proposal for a resolution in the EU parliament on <\/SPAN><\/FONT>Turkey<\/SPAN>, some <\/SPAN>Parliamentarians have made it clear that <\/SPAN><\/FONT>Turkey<\/SPAN> has to deal with its past and <\/SPAN>recognize the genocide on the Assyrians, Armenians and Pontic Greeks.<\/SPAN><\/FONT><\/P> The EU parliament voted down article 50 of Camiel Eurling?s resolution proposal. <\/SPAN><\/FONT>This article contained a demand on <\/SPAN><\/FONT>Turkey<\/SPAN> to recognize the genocide on Assyrians, <\/SPAN>Armenians and Pontic Greeks. The demand was voted down by 320 votes against <\/SPAN><\/FONT>282, in comparison to the whole resolution proposal, which was accepted with 429 <\/SPAN><\/FONT>votes against 71. The demand that would force <\/SPAN><\/FONT>Turkey<\/SPAN> to recognize the genocide <\/SPAN>was voted down with a small margin. But <\/SPAN><\/FONT>Turkey<\/SPAN> is requested to deal with and <\/SPAN>recognize its past, including the genocide on Armenians, Assyrians and Pontic Greeks. <\/SPAN><\/FONT><\/P> The reason being that if the crime against these minorities is not recognized it <\/SPAN><\/FONT>will always be a source of unrest and insecurity. <\/SPAN><\/FONT><\/P> In yesterday?s conference many important EU countries, among them <\/SPAN><\/FONT>England<\/SPAN>, <\/SPAN>France<\/SPAN><\/FONT>, <\/SPAN>Germany<\/SPAN> and <\/SPAN>Italy<\/SPAN>, expressed their big dissatisfaction with <\/SPAN>Turkey<\/SPAN>?s <\/SPAN>unwillingness to realize the reforms and the fact that they still are far <\/SPAN><\/FONT>from fulfilling the <\/SPAN><\/FONT>Copenhagen<\/SPAN> criteria. <\/SPAN><\/P> ?
