The <\/SPAN><\/B>US<\/SPAN><\/B><\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region> and three major European nations are to postpone moves to refer <\/SPAN><\/B>Iran<\/SPAN><\/B><\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region> to the UN Security Council over its nuclear programme, diplomats have said.<\/SPAN><\/B> <\/SPAN><\/P>

The UN nuclear watchdog, the IAEA, is due to meet in <\/SPAN>Vienna<\/SPAN><\/st1:place><\/st1:City> on Thursday. <\/SPAN><\/P>

\n

Iran<\/SPAN><\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region>‘s parliament voted on Sunday to end co-operation with UN inspectors and press ahead with uranium enrichment if it is referred to the Security Council. <\/SPAN><\/P>
\n

<\/o:p><\/SPAN> <\/P>
\n

Tehran<\/SPAN><\/st1:place><\/st1:City> insists its nuclear programme is for civilian energy only, but the <\/SPAN>US<\/SPAN><\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region> fears it could be used for weapons. <\/SPAN><\/P>

Diplomats close to the negotiations said <\/SPAN>Iran<\/SPAN><\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region> would be given more time to consider a compromise that would move the most sensitive part of nuclear fuel production – uranium enrichment – to <\/SPAN>Russia<\/SPAN><\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region>. <\/SPAN><\/P>
